About
Running since 1955, the Nagoya Festival is the city's largest autumn event. In a normal year the main draw is a parade of the three great warlords, Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu, with armored retainers, along with city-designated historic floats, kagura troupes and flower cars. In 2026 the parade is replaced by one-year-only programs at Hisaya-odori Park and other venues: stage shows by samurai performance troupes, a Nagoya food zone and booths on local culture and traditions. You can also see the flower cars and the warlords' floats on display, watch the floats' karakuri puppets in action and hear kagura music. During the festival, Nagoya Castle, Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens and other attractions are free to enter.
