About
Timed to the cherry blossom season, Aomori City's spring festival takes place at two parks, Gappo Park and Nogiwa Park. During the festival, rows of the customary festival stalls draw crowds of people out to enjoy the blossoms. At Gappo Park, paper lanterns light up the trees after dark for evening cherry blossom viewing, while at Nogiwa Park the blossoms glowing in the late-afternoon sun are a highlight. It is a relaxed, local way to welcome spring in northern Japan.
