About
Every late February, the town of Takko celebrates its prized garlic with this one-day winter festival. Stalls serve a variety of hot pots loaded with local garlic – just the thing on a cold day – and in the popular "Ninniku Cooking Only-One Grand Prix," visitors vote for their favorite garlic dish. You can also stock up on garlic, black garlic and all kinds of garlic products, and watch the contest to choose the "Garlic Lady," who helps liven up the town. The main venue is indoors and outdoor shoes are not allowed inside, so bring a pair of indoor slippers.
