About
Launched in 1999 at Yasumiya on the shore of Lake Towada, this has become one of Aomori's signature winter events, turning the frozen lakeside into a playground for the coldest season. The star attraction is winter fireworks: the crisp, clear air makes the colors especially vivid, and the stronger winter winds carry the smoke away for a cleaner view. You can even sponsor a single firework with a personal message that is announced before it goes up. At the Yukiakari Yokocho food village, stalls serve everything from casual comfort food to regional specialties made with local ingredients, and the snow park features a giant snow slide for all ages. Admission is free.
