About
Mobara's biggest event of the year fills the shopping streets around Mobara Station every summer, and 2026 was its 72nd edition. Colorful, lavish Tanabata decorations hang along the streets and compete in a decoration contest. There is always something going on: the Mobara Awa Odori dance parade winding through town, the YOSAKOI Natsu no Jin team dance competition, and performers on the Festa 21 stage. A gourmet street of food trucks and plenty of stalls make it easy to spend a whole day with family or friends. The festival is run by the Mobara Tanabata Festival Committee at the Mobara Chamber of Commerce, and it starts right outside Mobara Station on the JR Sotobo Line.
