About
Kitakyushu's big summer city festival held its 39th edition on Saturday and Sunday, September 19 and 20, 2026. Katsuyama Park and nearby venues host a gathering of yamakasa floats and parade carts from all seven wards, a children's stage of song and dance, YOSAKOI teams and a parade, and everyone can join the circle for the Hyakuman Odori mass dance. Booths and food trucks serve dishes with local roots, and fireworks close out the festival. It began in 1973 as Matsuri Kitakyushu and was relaunched under its current name in 1988 for the city's 25th anniversary. The venue is about 10 minutes on foot from JR Kokura Station.
