About
In winter, Kita-Karuizawa in Naganohara lights up the snow for this local seasonal tradition. At the Kita-Karuizawa Fureai Hiroba, candles are lit by the hundreds with wishes for a good year, and the candle art casts a soft glow over the snowy field. It runs from late afternoon into the evening, and fireworks are planned as well, so you get snow, flame and fireworks together. The festival reached its thirty-second edition in 2026.
