About

In late April, when the double-flowered cherries along the old street peak, Shiroi-juku in Shibukawa holds its festival. Once a thriving highway town at the foot of Shiroi Castle, it turns its roughly 950-meter main street into a route for a procession of people dressed as Sengoku warlords and samurai. A traditional market sets up along the street with farm produce and local specialties, and a haiku gathering called the Yayoi Kukai takes place; in 2026, floats were also displayed. The samurai procession and float display are called off in rain. Temporary parking with a free shuttle bus is provided, and the Komochi roadside station is right nearby.
