About

Held in summer at Koga Golf Links on the Watarase riverbank, this fireworks festival reached its 21st edition in 2026. The local tourism association promotes it as one of Japan's largest in shell count and sanshakudama, and the main attractions are two enormous sanshakudama shells and huge wide starmine barrages stretched across the broad riverbank. In 2026 the famous fireworks maker Nomura Hanabi also took part. From early evening the area around Edomachi-dori in town becomes pedestrian-only. Paid seats include spots on the levee slope and chairs set out on the fairway. The site has no shade, so come prepared for the heat; you can only claim a spot on the day itself, and the show is cancelled in bad weather.
