About
Fujisawa's autumn fireworks take place on Katase West Beach, right beside Enoshima, usually in mid-October. The shells go up from barges anchored offshore, so the bursts bloom straight above the water. The show lasts only about 30 minutes, yet around 1,000 shells are packed in, topped by big No. 20 shells. It fits neatly into a day trip: explore Enoshima while it is light, then find a spot on the sand and wait for the first launch. Katase-Enoshima Station on the Odakyu Enoshima Line is about 2 minutes away on foot, and Enoshima Station on the Enoden and Shonan-Enoshima Station on the Shonan Monorail are also within walking distance. If the weather turns stormy the show is called off, with no backup date, and drones may not be flown near the venue.
