About

Held on the Tama River banks between Futako Bridge and the Daisan Keihin Road, this display commemorates Kawasaki becoming a city in 1924. It runs at the same time as Setagaya's Tamagawa fireworks on the opposite bank, so you can watch both shows at once. The signature act is the 'Hanabillusion,' fireworks choreographed to music, and together with the regular star mines about 6,000 shells fill the autumn sky. Its roots go back to a river-opening celebration at Rokugo Bridge in 1929. Cancelled from 2020 to 2022 because of the pandemic, it returned in 2023. Paid seats are available, and the riverbank is walkable from Futako-shinchi and Futako-tamagawa stations on the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line. Stormy weather means cancellation, with no postponement.
