About
Isehara's autumn tourism festival honors Ota Dokan, a warrior remembered for excelling in both scholarship and combat, who died in Isehara. For 2 days on an October weekend, the streets around Isehara Station are closed to traffic for the festivities. Two costumed processions are the main draw: Lord Dokan setting out on a falcon hunt, and Hojo Masako making her pilgrimage to Hinata Yakushi temple, both with celebrities taking part. On Saturday there is a puzzle-solving walk around town. Its 59th festival in 2026 celebrated the city's 55th anniversary and brought back the Onbashira log-hauling from Chino, Nagano, for the first time in 3 years. Food stalls fill the plazas.
