About
For three days in early summer, carp streamers made of paper swim in the clear water of the Niyodo River at Ino, a river so blue it has its own name, Niyodo Blue. The event reached its 30th edition in 2026. It takes place under Niyodogawa Bridge around Hakawa Park, and each day has its own feature: koi-nagashi and taiko drums on the first day, glowing streamers from the evening of the second, and a giveaway of the underwater carp on the third. Kids can try grabbing amago trout by hand or join a treasure hunt, and with a reservation you can paddle out among the streamers on a SUP or a clear canoe. The Niyodo River hometown market runs throughout with food and hands-on stalls. Light rain does not stop it, and free shuttle buses run from JR Ino Station and other points.
