About
In Kyoto, the four days from August 7 to 10, just before Obon, are when people visit Rokudo Chinno-ji to welcome home the spirits of their ancestors, a custom known as Rokudo Mairi or Shorai Mukae. During these days, the temple also accepts requests for memorial services for families observing their first Obon after a loss, as well as for first- and third-year memorials, and offers special temple seals (goshuin) available only during this period.
