About
This festival is the chance to see Shiiba Kagura, a national Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, all in one place. Each of the 26 districts of Shiiba village has its own kagura that grew up in that community. Normally it is offered as yokagura, danced through the night by locals in each district; on this day, groups from across the village come together at one venue and perform a variety of pieces one after another. Because the style, costumes and atmosphere differ by district, the real pleasure is comparing them side by side. Visitors from outside the village can watch for a fee. The program is subject to change.
