About

For about 30 days in spring, Saga's old castle town displays hina dolls in its traditional and retro buildings. You'll see refined doll sets associated with the Nabeshima family, who ruled the Saga domain, dolls crafted with local traditions such as Nabeshima komon dyeing, Nabeshima carpets and hand-woven Saga nishiki brocade, and dolls handmade by children. Main venues include the Chokokan, the Saga Castle History Museum and the Saga City Historical and Folk Museum, and a 1,000-yen pass gets you into them. With events, workshops and limited-time food, it makes for a spring walk through former banks and old family homes.
