About
Konosu, said to have some 400 years of doll-making history, calls itself the hometown of hina dolls, and each early spring it puts on a doll festival; 2026 was the twenty-second. The star is Japan's tallest pyramid display, set up in the Elumi Konosu shopping mall connected to the east exit of JR Konosu Station: 31 tiers, about 7 meters high, filled with around 1,500 dolls. Volunteers and artisans assemble it together, and more dolls can be seen at satellite and exhibition venues around the city, such as the tourism hall and the lifelong learning center. The Konosu City Tourism Association organizes the festival, and a committee of citizen volunteers runs it.
