About

Every summer, Haranoyagawa Shinsui Park in Fukuroi hosts the biggest fireworks show in Shizuoka Prefecture. At its core is a contest between leading pyrotechnicians chosen from all over Japan, each answering that year's theme with an original piece. Music-synced starmines and a Niagara cascade two hundred meters long, shaped like Mount Fuji, are among the many set pieces. The night ends with the Jumbo Wide Starmine, promoted as Japan's biggest, spreading across the sky to Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance. Paid seats near the launch area give the most powerful view. The organizing committee brings together the Fukuroi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Fukuroi City, the Shizuoka Shimbun and Shizuoka Broadcasting System.
