About
If there is one event that sums up summer in Himi, it is this citywide festival at scenic Himinoe Park. Alongside dancing to the Himi Ondo, there is a food area, displays of working vehicles, craft classes, hula and much more, with something for every member of the family. In 2026 the fish-lantern float made its first appearance in three years. The evening closes with 4,000 fireworks over Himi. The festival grew out of the Himi Industry Fair, which aimed to help the city bounce back from the great Himi fire of 1938 that burned around 1,500 homes, including the downtown area, and its first edition was organized in 1973 with the Himi Junior Chamber taking the lead.
