About
This festival in the Asa district of Sanyo-Onoda honors Netaro, hero of the local folktale of Netaro of Asa, and his great deeds. It takes place every April 29, centered on the shopping streets in front of JR Asa Station. The statue of Netaro Gongen is put on view for the day, treasure ships roll through town, and a float parade, the Netaro mass dance and Netaro drumming turn the whole place over to its favorite son. A special stage runs dance and music acts, and open-air restaurants run by groups such as the chamber of commerce's women's and youth sections sit alongside a flea market. The day wraps up with the big rice-cake scatter, a favorite finale that sends the energy soaring. It is organized by the Netaro Matsuri executive committee.
