About
This is one of Hayakawa's biggest events of the year, held when the town is fresh and green. Surrounded by nature, Hayakawa sees its mountain vegetables come into season with spring, and the festival began as a way to share that taste with as many people as possible. Wild greens picked carefully by residents can be bought to take home or eaten right there. Along with seasonal sansai and local specialties, stalls serve Hayakawa flavors such as mountain vegetable dishes and wild game. There is a kayo (popular song) show, plus a catch-a-fish-by-hand event open only to children, so families can spend the whole day. Admission is free, and on rainy days the festival moves into the town gymnasium.
