About
Toyota's largest festival is one the city's residents make for themselves. Coworkers, neighbors and friends form dance teams and perform to the festival song "Oiden" in costumes and routines they create. Through June and July, My Town Oiden events pop up around the city, leading to the big Oiden Dance in the area east of Meitetsu Toyotashi Station on the last Saturday of July. The next day brings the finale: one of the biggest fireworks shows in the Tokai region at Shirahama Park beside the Yahagi River, with fireworks set to music, a Niagara falls display, star mines and handheld tezutsu fired one after another.
