About

Kisarazu, a thriving port since long ago, holds its largest festival over 2 days, and 2026 marked its 79th edition. On the first day, Fujimi-dori Street outside the west (Minato) exit of Kisarazu Station becomes the stage for the Yassai Mossai dance contest, and dancers and onlookers pack the street to the chant of "osa, osa, ossa." People of every age dance in step together, which is the heart of this dance. The next day brings fireworks over the inner harbor of Kisarazu Port: after sunset, large shells burst one after another and Nakanoshima Bridge, the port's symbol, glows in their light. About 14,000 shells were planned for 2026, and paid seating is available. The venues are about 10 minutes' walk from the station, and since nearby roads get badly congested, visitors are asked to come by train or bus.
