About

Started in 1990 to mark 40 years since Noda became a city, this festival is now one of the faces of summer in Noda. Some unusual mikoshi take part, such as a tree-frog mikoshi and a lion mikoshi. About 10 mikoshi and a women's mikoshi are carried on Noda's distinctive pair of long poles and paraded mainly along Honcho-dori, to the clatter of gangara, beaten metal cans, and wooden clappers. Children's mikoshi parade in the late afternoon. The highlight is the finale, when mikoshi squeeze past each other in the narrow street. The route is about a 5-minute walk from Atago Station on the Tobu Urban Park Line.
