About
Held on the festival plaza in front of Echizen Town Hall, this summer evening festival stars andon dashi, lantern-lit floats that are an unusual sight in Fukui Prefecture. The floats are made by hand by local residents, who have kept this community festival going for generations. Once lit, the floats charge around the plaza, each trying to outshine the others in light and color, so plan to arrive in time for the procession after dark. Entry is free, there is parking, and the festival is billed as a good outing for families with children.
