About
From early October to early November, Takefu Central Park in Echizen City fills with kiku ningyo, figures dressed in living chrysanthemums, along with chrysanthemum displays, a long-loved sign that autumn has reached Hokuriku. This year, its seventy-fifth edition takes "Echizen Yokai Tales: a little scary, but fun" as its theme, populating the park with chrysanthemum yokai drawn from local legend, with spots for photos alongside them. There is much more besides: song-and-dance revues by the OSK Nippon Revue Company, 11 large rides including a merry-go-round and a monorail, a food court of Echizen specialties and the Kikurin Market for souvenirs, plus weekend events. Entry is free, a large free car park is on hand, and on Sundays free shuttle buses run from the stations.
