About
In summer, the shopping streets of Iwaki's Taira district are hung with vivid Tanabata streamers, and the city turns out in force for one of its best-known summer events. Wander beneath the decorations and browse the shops as you go. The festival starts right outside JR Iwaki Station, so the train is the simplest way in; drivers can reach it in about 10 minutes from the Iwaki-Chuo IC and use paid parking. In 2026 it ran August 6 to 8. Contact the Iwaki Tanabata Festival Executive Committee for details.
