About
Kitakata, the storehouse town, throws its summer festival on Fureai-dori, the shopping street at its center. Dancers circle to the Aizu Bandaisan Shosuke dance, children play festival music, the Aizu Kitakata Kura Taiko drummers perform, and drum floats face off in a friendly contest. Run by a local steering committee, the festival marked its 59th edition in 2026. The street is a short walk from JR Kitakata Station and near the Kitakata interchange of the Aizu Jukan Kita road. In 2026 it was held on August 14 and 15.
