About
Takamatsu's signature summer festival, counted among the four great festivals of Shikoku, held its 59th edition in 2026. That year it used Anabuki Arena Kagawa and the Stone Stage in Sunport Takamatsu's Multi-purpose Square, with the dialect slogan "Monosso Takamatsu" (roughly, "amazing Takamatsu"). Midway through, about 6,000 fireworks are launched from the Tamamo Breakwater of Takamatsu Port, and around Mizuki-dori and Sunport you can watch the free "music fireworks" timed to a soundtrack; paid seats are also sold. The last evening's highlight is the group dance on the Stone Stage, open to all ages. In 2026 the theme-song group dance on Chuo-dori was not held. Fireworks and the group dance are cancelled in severe weather, and roads nearby get badly jammed every year, so take public transport.
