About
In Kameyama, the old Tokaido post town of Seki-juku hosts a festival with a historical costume procession and other events along its preserved streets. Seki-juku thrived as a post town from the Edo period, and many townhouses from the Edo and Meiji eras still stand. The festival began after the town was designated a national Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in 1984. As the costumed procession moves between the old houses, the whole town looks like an Edo-era post station again, and strolling the historic street alongside it is part of the fun. It is about a 5-minute walk from JR Seki Station, or about 5 minutes by car from the Seki interchange on the Meihan Expressway, and temporary parking is provided on the day.
