About

Every November, Kan'ami Furusato Park in Kami-obata, Nabari, hosts a Noh event inspired by the story that Kan'ami, who brought Noh to maturity, founded his troupe in Obata in the old province of Iga. Members of local Noh groups perform shimai dances and rengin chanting, and a children's Kyogen club puts on comic plays. Being outdoors in a park in a place tied to Kan'ami makes this a relaxed way to enjoy traditional performing arts, and admission is free. Inquiries go to the Culture and Lifelong Learning Office of the Nabari City Board of Education. Take a bus bound for Suzurandai from Kintetsu Kikyogaoka Station and get off at Obata.
