About
Kobayashi's signature fireworks show is watched from the grounds of Suki Junior High School, surrounded on all sides by mountains. The air is clear, and conditions for viewing could hardly be better. The shells are launched from the nearby banks of the Honjo River, so the bursts open right in front of you and the booms thump through your chest. The way the sound rolls back off the mountains is part of the experience here. On the day, a range of food stalls, including local specialties, keep the summer evening lively. The grounds open at 17:00 and the fireworks start at 20:00, so arrive early to browse the stalls and pick your spot. If it rains, the show moves to the next day.
