About
In autumn, Sasebo throws one of its biggest events of the year. The stars are the yosakoi dance teams: dancers of every age, from small children to seniors, perform with full energy to music while clacking naruko wooden clappers. Besides the main venue at Sasebo Central Park, several more stages are spread around the city center, so you can wander downtown and run into performances wherever you go. The first day is an opening-eve event. Watching costs nothing, and drivers are asked to use paid car parks in the area. The festival is run by its executive committee, backed by Nagasaki Prefecture and Sasebo City, with support from local shopping streets and tourism groups.
