About
On two nights during Obon, the island village of Himeshima dances. Old island dances such as the fox dance, the Aya dance, Sarumaru-dayu and the zeni-daiko coin drum dance share the stage with newer creations full of funny costumes and clever ideas. The dancing is said to have branched off from the nembutsu dances of the Kamakura period. Extra ferries run at night on both dance days. In 2025 it took place on August 14 and 15 from 19:00 to 21:00.
