About
On the last Saturday and Sunday of July, central Gyoda hosts its big summer festival. Saturday is the eve, with shows on a special stage on Chuo-dori plus stalls that small children will enjoy and food trucks. Sunday is all about the Ukishiro Danbe Odori parade: dancers make their way down the streets shouting "Sore, sore!" while portable shrines and floats join the procession. Don't miss the floats squaring off in drumming battles, which fill the summer night with excitement. Slipping into a yukata or a festival happi coat and taking part is a great way to enjoy it.
