About
Held every year from August 4 to 8, Goshogawara's Tachineputa ranks alongside the festivals of Aomori and Hirosaki as one of the three great neputa festivals of Aomori Prefecture. What sets it apart is sheer size: the largest floats stand about 23 meters tall and weigh around 19 tons. These towering figures, each built around its own theme with intricate sculpting and vivid colors, are hauled through the city center to pounding festival music and shouts of "Yattemare!". About 15 floats take part, including three giant ones that are kept on display year-round at the Tachineputa Museum in the city center, so you can see them up close even outside the festival.
