About
On this summer evening festival, the main street of Sannohe glows with lantern light. Tall bamboo poles are propped along the street and hung with some 3,000 paper lanterns, which is why it is also called the lantern festival. The shopping street, turned into a lantern-lit tunnel, becomes a pedestrian zone lined with food stalls, and local shops put on their own events. There is also a costume parade inspired by '11 Cats', a work by Noboru Baba, a manga artist from Sannohe, in which participants dress up as the cats and their friends and march through town.
