About
Wakasa Takahama's summer fireworks bring big crowds every year, and the whole 4 km shoreline, from Wakasa Wada Beach past Shirahama and Toriihama to Shiroyama Beach, serves as the viewing area, so you can simply pick a patch of sand and settle in. The star turn is the underwater fireworks that open on the sea, close enough that you feel the boom and vibration through your body. A newer display spreads sideways across the sky, making the most of Takahama's long beaches. About 4,000 shells are launched in all. In stormy weather the show is pushed to the next day. Paid parking is available nearby, and the Wakasa Takahama Tourism Association handles inquiries.
