About
Every autumn Seki, known across Japan for its blades, holds a big autumn festival that brings in visitors from far and wide. Shoppers should head to the cutlery sale on the Honmachi-dori shopping street, where around 40 makers sell kitchen knives, scissors, pocket knives and more at good prices. Around town you can watch sparks fly at traditional Japanese sword-forging demonstrations, look over one of the country's biggest outdoor knife shows, and see iai sword-cutting. Venues are spread across the city, including the Seki Traditional Swordsmith Museum and Seki Terrace, and shuttle buses run from nearby parking areas. Admission is free for both days.
