About
Shirotori Shrine in Higashikagawa, dedicated to Yamato Takeru, holds its autumn grand festival to give thanks for the harvest and pray for the wellbeing of its parishioners and worshippers. The mikoshi sets out with the Shinkosai rite on the first day and returns with the Kankosai rite on the last. Each district adds its own offering – lion dances, yakko processions and o-teppo gun offerings – keeping the festival lively throughout. Around the same time, an exhibition opens of the calligraphy dedicated to the shrine over the past year. The shrine also holds a spring festival and a summer purification festival.
