If you want to taste the whole eastern coast of Kochi in one stop, head to the parking area of Aki's municipal baseball stadium. Eleven cities, towns and villages stretching from Nankoku to Toyo bring their specialties: Aki kamaage chirimen-don, a rice bowl topped with just-boiled baby sardines, rustic inaka-zushi, homegrown sweets, and bonito seared over burning straw at the seafood booth. A local jako summit celebrating little dried fish shares the grounds, while the stage mixes yosakoi, taiko and other folk performances with magic acts. The festival doubles as a Railway Day event for the Gomen-Nahari Line, and on the last day the Aki Station rail depot opens as an extra venue, so rail fans should aim for that day.
