About
Sukumo's own citizens' festival comes around every year in early October. A dance parade takes center stage, alongside a children's mikoshi and sports events, and the eve is filled with a song festival and other entertainment. On the night of the main day, autumn fireworks burst above the area around Umikaze Park in Takasago, and paid table seats let you watch them up close. The festival runs on donations and sponsorship from residents and local businesses, and sponsorship tickets are entered in a prize draw at the venue. Umikaze Park is about 20 minutes on foot from Sukumo Station on the Tosa Kuroshio Railway, and free temporary parking lots open at several places around the city.
