About
The summer festival of the Kyomachi hot-spring area in Ebino ends with fireworks over the Sendai River. About 3,000 shells go up from the bank opposite the viewing area on the Kyomachi riverbank, and because the river is narrow they burst close by, so the big shells and starmines feel as if they are falling right on top of you. The riverbank is roomy enough to sit down and watch in comfort. Plenty of food stalls and stage events liven up the spa town's summer evening. It is about 15 minutes on foot from Kyomachi Onsen Station, or about 10 minutes by car from the Ebino IC. Park only in the designated lots, not along nearby roads, on the embankment or on private land. The show goes ahead in light rain and is postponed to the next day in stormy weather.
