About
Nobeoka's summer festival runs over two days. Day one centres on the area around the Chuo-dori intersection, where a taiko drum contest, the Deai Mikoshi meeting of portable shrines and the Banba So-odori mass street dance fill the streets with drumming and energy. On day two the action shifts to the riverbank downstream of Ose Bridge for a fireworks display, with a fireworks garden where you can eat and drink as you watch. Big bursts bloom across the night sky on what is the high point of Nobeoka's summer. Roads around the venues are restricted and there is no festival parking, so plan to come by public transport.
