About
On the third Sunday of October, processions with portable shrines and drums from eight shrines around Kibichuo converge on Kamo Sojagu Shrine in Kamo-ichiba. This gathering of shrines, known as a yorimiya festival, is said to have a 950-year tradition; it is an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Okayama Prefecture and one of the prefecture's three great festivals. The shrine stands in a forest of cedar and cypress said to be over 500 years old, where the processions assemble for age-old rites. From morning on, flutes and drums can be heard all over town.
