About
This festival is all about the night skies of Ishigaki Island, and it reached its 25th anniversary in 2026. It is run by an executive committee based in Ishigaki City's Tourism and Culture Division, with star-related events at venues around the island. The centerpiece is an evening concert and stargazing session at Painuhama Green Park: after the live music, the audience stays on to look at the stars, and entry is free. Other programs include special planetarium shows, an open day at the VERA Ishigakijima radio telescope station, stargazing and tours at the National Astronomical Observatory's Ishigakijima Astronomical Observatory, a night-sky photography workshop for beginners and a symposium for stargazing guides.
