About
Yonabaru Town's summer festival revolves around a great tug-of-war. The town describes it as a traditional event praying for good health and a plentiful harvest, and it has become a fixture of summer that brings in crowds from both inside and outside Yonabaru. Alongside the tug-of-war, there are striking hatagashira banner poles and a range of stage events. Its 44th edition runs over a Saturday and Sunday, with the tug-of-war on the Sunday.
