About
On a summer night, fireworks rise from inside Hamada Fishing Port with Marine Bridge, the city's landmark, in the background. Because the shells go up within the harbor, the colors feel close and powerful. The 2026 show had about 3,000 shells, some choreographed to music. Community booths and food stalls fill the grounds. The best viewing spot is under Marine Bridge, and there is another area beside the Hamada fish market. Parking at the venue costs a fee, while free shuttle buses run from the north exit of Hamada Station and the Hamada Children's Museum of Art. Light rain does not stop the event; in stormy weather only the fireworks are pushed to the next day. The Hamakko Matsuri Promotion Association, with its office at the Hamada City Tourism Association, organizes it.
