About
Naruto stages the earliest Awa Odori in Tokushima Prefecture, and a big one at that. Dance venues are built around JR Naruto Station, and both well-known troupes and the niwaka-ren, a group anyone can join, set the town buzzing. The paid Boat Race Naruto East venue offers 80-meter-long stands right beside the dancers, and on the last night every troupe in the Naruto Awa Odori promotion association appears in the finale. Free viewing spots include the West Dance Plaza, Daido Odori Street and Honmachi Dance Plaza. The niwaka-ren goes out on all 3 days, you can join in what you are wearing, and participants get a hand towel while supplies last. The opening day also features a first dance at the Senjojiki observatory in Naruto Park.
