About
This festival is held near Nakanochaya on the Yoshida Trail of Mount Fuji when the Fuji cherry comes into flower. The Fuji cherry is the prefectural flower of Yamanashi and the city flower of Fujiyoshida, and the area around Nakanochaya holds the largest colony in the prefecture, some 20,000 trees, designated a national natural monument. While the small, sweet blossoms are out, locals welcome visitors with potted plants to take home, cups of tea and a limited supply of sakura mochi. On some days a tea gathering or tea ceremony experience takes place on the upper floor of Nakanochaya.
